German Shepherd Health Guarantee
Your puppy was vaccinated with a 9-way vaccine (Duramune Max 5/L4) from Fort Dodge at 6 weeks. S/he needs to be re-vaccinated with a 9-way vaccine at 9 weeks, 12 weeks, and 16 weeks. Your puppy should also be wormed at least every 2 months to keep it happy and healthy. We recommend using Panacur, which can be safely administered every 2 to 3 weeks -- there is very little chance of overdose. Your puppy will also need to be started on a heart-worm preventative at the age of 4 months - consult with your veterinarian on when to start them on the preventative. Your puppy will also need a rabies shot given no earlier than 16 weeks of age. We also recommend switching from puppy food to an adult food between the ages of 4-5 months. We feed Purina Pro Plan Savor Chicken & Rice Puppy Formula and Purina Pro Plan Performance 30/20 to all of our puppies.
I guarantee my puppies to be in good health at the time of purchase, unless otherwise noted at time of sale. You are given 3 days to take the puppy to your vet. If your vet finds that the puppy has a life-threatening disease, you may return your puppy within that time period and choose another pup or wait for one in a later litter. Along with the puppy, you must include a written statement from a certified veterinarian with the veterinarian's name, address, phone number, and diagnosis.
I guarantee my puppies to be free from life threatening genetic defects up to the age of one year. If a puppy dies within the first year from a genetic defect, all documentation must be provided upon request and will be reviewed by my veterinarian. When verification is made then a replacement pup will be given.
I guarantee all puppies to pass OFA preliminary certification (Excellent, Good, or Fair) at the age of one year. The x-rays must be taken prior to 14 months of age. If preliminary x-rays are taken, then I will guarantee the pup to pass OFA certification (Excellent, Good, or Fair) at two years of age. These x-rays must be taken between 24-26 months of age. The x-rays must be taken by a veterinarian who is skilled at taking x-rays for OFA evaluation. The vet must certify that the dog is of ideal weight and that there has been no injury to the dog's hips. Ideal weight will be based on the rating scale of 1 to 5. If the dog is maintained in a malnourished or obese condition, the hip guarantee is void. X-rays must be submitted to the breeder for approval before being submitted to the OFA. This is to ensure that the positioning is correct on the x-rays. After verification is made and a report of neuter/spay is provided, you will be given a replacement puppy when one becomes available.
Replacement pups will be chosen by the breeder. Only one pup will be replaced per sale regardless of circumstances. I do not refund money on puppies.
This guarantee is non-transferable and is only valid if the immunizations and worming records (including heart wormer) are kept current and if the dog has not been bred or neutered/spayed prior to x-rays. Under no circumstances, will the breeder be responsible for any veterinary expenses incurred after the buyer has purchased the pup.
Deposits are non-refundable, but can be moved to any litter.
The puppy will be named by the breeder with the litter letter beginning the first name and "vom tonti" as the ending. For example, a pup from the “K” litter could be named King Vom Tonti or King Naxos Vom Tonti. If the name is changed by the new owner, without consent from the breeder, then the health guarantee is void. Names can be chosen by the buyer, but must be submitted to the breeder for approval.
If for any reason you have to place or sell your puppy, you must give the breeder the first right to purchase. At no time shall the pup be placed in an animal shelter or animal rescue facility.
I do not guarantee the temperament of my puppies. Temperament is not only determined by genetics, but also by environment. Too often, nice puppies develop problems as a result of the way they were raised. I have no control over environment after the puppies leave my home. I do guarantee that all puppies have been well socialized while they were here.
I do not guarantee reproductive capability. I do not warrant undescended testicles, unless the pup is bought for breeding purposes (AKC Full Registration).
I wish you the best with your new puppy and if you have any questions feel free to contact me.
